Advanced Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety

This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to work within the field of occupational health and safety as a manager. You will analyse, design and execute judgements using technical, creative, conceptual or managerial competencies. Your knowledge base may be specialised or broad within the occupational health and safety field. You will further develop skills through the development of a systematic approach to managing OHS. You will analyse OHS information/data reporting and recording processes, develop and implement crisis management processes and evaluate an organisation's OHS performance. Occupational Health and Safety is a growing area of expertise within every industry. This qualification will give you the knowledge and skills to develop and implement a systematic OHS plan, beginning with multi-faceted analysis of current systems, and following through to evaluation.

Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety (BSB51604) or equivalent,
Being familiar with computers for word-processing, databases and the internet is also an advantage.

Mature Age Entry
If you have left school and experienced a minimum of two years in a working environment, this course is open entry – free of minimum entrance requirements. However, prerequisite/course pathway requirements shown above must be met.

Course Information

Study Options
This course is run as an adult distant education program with most students choosing the option to use the internet as their primary source of information.

Course Duration
Participants have six months from the date of enrolment in any subject to complete that subject. The recommended time for completion of a single subject is two months.

Start Times
There is continuous enrolment in the distance program.

Assessment
For each subject two pieces of assessment are required.

  1. The first assessment is activities.
  2. The second assessment is a written assignment.

The Advanced Diploma prepares you for employment as a work health and safety practitioner and as such, carry out organisation of the safety and health functions within a workplace.
